Accident Reconstruction
The Engineering Institute employs the following to calculate and illustrate the position of a vehicle every .005 seconds of an accident, resulting in accurate graphics:

  • Energy Method
  • Momentum Method
  • Photogrammetry
  • Crush
  • Full-Motion Mathematical Modeling
  • Animation

Vehicle Dynamics Analysis

The Institute studies and quantifies vehicle traits such as rollover propensity and vehicle controllability/longitudinal stability. Static stability factor (T/2H) is an indicator of the vehicle's propensity to rollover. The Institute's analysis covers suspension design, transitional effects from steering inputs and mechanical failures to account for tire failures, all manner of designed towing and vehicle loading and emergency avoidance maneuvers. Applicable testing includes J-Turns, CU Short Course, Road Edge Recovery and SAE J266 Circle Test.

Occupant Motion and Biomechanical Response

Based upon known and modeled accident parameters, occupant motion analysis and biomechanical response produce mathematically valid models that demonstrate any view, angle or zoom of the occupant(s). The Institute accurately estimates the forces, accelerations and injury parameters of the head, neck, back, chest, etc., providing insights directly relating to injury causation due to accidents.

Failure Analysis

The Institute analyzes mechanical and systems failure from a fundamental standpoint. What happened? Why did it happen? Could it have been prevented? If so, how? With on-staff metallurgical and design experts, The Institute will provide a comprehensive technical report that delineates the reason(s) for component or system failure.
